Paul Barron | Festival Director
Paul Barron is an performance artist, arts-worker and event producer whose practice spans video and projection art, physical theatre and community engagement.From a background in circus and street arts, his last twenty years of practice have focused on the nexus between culture and the mechanics of art making. He's at the helm of Culture Mechanics whose most recent productions include work with EcoFiesta Cairns, Laura Culture Festival and Luxlumin Townsville. He is most recognised as the coordinator of Starry Night Cinema for the End Credits
Film Club. The Club’s popular events include Cairns CineBar, Unseen Cinema at the Centre of Contemporary Arts and the newly launched Tanks Round Cinema. Two years ago he launched Illuminate Port Douglas and is keen to see projection art and screen culture continue to grow in regional centres around Australia.

Rebecca Scott | Festival Producer / Finance and Adminstration
Rebecca Scott is a kaleidoscope of talents and interests. She’s a certified practising accountant and an accomplished skydiver with a passion for hosting themed parties that bring people together in a considered atmosphere. She founded and directed the Cairns Adventure Film Festival (CAFF 2010-2012), a showcase of extreme sports and adventure films by amateur filmmakers alongside live action sports including parkour, fire hula and bmx bungy jumping. Her aim passion is to run amazing unique events and to promote the work of local artists.
She’s the chief administrator for Illuminate Cairns, securing much appreciated funding and sponsorship and has spent many hours updating the website and liaising with stakeholders to make this event come alive.

Dave Masters | Technical Director
Dave Masters is a sound and lighting engineer who has worked for a variety of
live music venues, theatres, festivals and events across Australia. He operates Solid Sound Solutions from Cairns and has worked as production manager and technician for Jute Theatre Company and Cairns Centre of Contemporary Arts. Since 2002 he’s managed the main stage of Rainbow Serpent Festival. He also does sound lighting and vision design and stage management for Earth Frequency Festival. For Illuminate Cairns, he is overseeing technical production as well as presenting his own interactive projection mapping site and producing several mapped projections of local artists’ work.

Ashleigh Campbell | Co Producer & Artist Liaison
Ashleigh Campbell is an exhibition curator and cultural development producer who has worked on a range of arts activities and festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, the Sydney & Venice Biennales and for numerous artist-run and public galleries. She studied visual art at university and holds a Masters in curatorship and museum studies. She founded and produced The Range Arts Festival, co-produced seasonal festivals in unlikely locations with the social-enterprise collective Urbanation and has worked to deliver First Coat Street Art Festival in Toowoomba. Now based in Cairns she curating exhibitions at the Cairns Regional Gallery and is gearing up to assist the Hawaiian-based PangeaSeed Foundation deliver an Australian edition of Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans in Cairns 2017.

Scott Large | Production Manager
Scott Large is a creative producer, event manager and community project activator, with a particular interest in AV and hybrid arts.
Over 10 years in the Northern Territory, Scott has built numerous project frameworks for high level presentation outcomes. Scott has co-founded events and projects including Wide Open Space Festival, directed the Alice Desert Festival for 3years, produced the Mahbilil Festival in Kakadu, and locally worked on Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.
He has produced and toured numerous performances, with a focus on developing Indigenous artists to present their work professionally.
Scott is now based in Cairns and is the designer of our beautiful event posters this year. Scott has dabbled in photography and digital imagery for many years, with a particular focus on abstract macro works. His photography is the feature imagery for Illuminate Cairns 2016. The main image is from a series of photographs of glass artworks from master glass blower Bodhi Seed. See more of this series projected at the opening night Party at Lilo Bar, Rydges Plaza Friday 11th 6-9pm.
